Latest NHS advice on Coronavirus Covid-19

Stay at home!

The government has advised that everyone must stay at home to help stop the spread of Covid-19. You should only leave the house for one of four reasons:

  • To shop for basic necessities, for example food and medicine ( this should be kept to a minimum)

  • To exercise, for example to run, walk, or cycle – alone or with members of your own household ONLY

  • To provide care for, or to help, a vulnerable person, or any other urgent medical reason

  • To travel to and from work, but only where working from home is impossible.

The government has asked people to minimise the amount of time spent outside of the home, and to ensure that everyone stays AT LEAST 2 METRES away from others (when outside of their home).

Symptoms and what to do

The two most common symptoms are:

  • A high temperature – this means you feel hot to touch on your chest or back. You will be so hot, that you will not need to measure your temperature.

  • A new, continuous cough – this means coughing a lot for more than an hour, or having three or more coughing episodes in 24 hours. If you usually suffer with a cough, then it may be worse than usual.

The NHS are advising that:

  • You must stay at home

  • To protect others, DO NOT go to places like a GP surgery, pharmacy or hospital.

  • Use the 111 online coronavirus service to find out more about what to do.

  • Only call 111 if you cannot get help online.
