Over Day Centre honoured by Hindu Samaj Northstowe

On Saturday 4 January Hindu Samaj Northstowe held their "One Community: One Family" (Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam) event in the Great Hall at King's College, Cambridge. The event not only celebrated the start of the New Year and the coming together of Hindus living in and around Northstowe, but honoured local groups and people who have connected with Hindu Samaj Northstowe over the length of the community's history. And one of those local groups has been the Over Day Centre.

Our Administrator, Halina Szulakowska, was invited to represent the Day Centre charity, and was honoured by being asked to join in with lighting the Diya candle to mark the beginning of the event.

The Day Centre was also gifted a beautiful statue of Rama as a sign of friendship between the two charitable organisations. (Our clients are truly delighted with Rama.)

Festivities continued throughout the afternoon with traditional dance, a generous buffet, craft activities, quizzes and a celebration of the Hindu god, Hanuman.

Members of Hindu Samaj Northstowe have been visiting the Day Centre for a number of years to provide activities and entertainment for our clients. And long may this association last!

Thank you for recognising Over Day Centre at Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam. Halina was truly honoured to attend.

Yoiu can see photos from the event in our Gallery.

Joe is an independent individual who is coming to terms with becoming dependent. This puts a strain on our relationship. For myself, I am having to accept a role I never wanted. At the Day Centre I know he is receiving so many things I cannot give him, and he would not give himself.
