Day Trips on Ladybird Boat Trust Narrowboat

Today was the first of two trips for Over Day Centre clients aboard a narrowboat belonging to the Ladybird Boat Trust charity. Clients and staff set off from Hartford Marina this morning for a two-hour cruise around the waterways near St. Ives. Staff had packed a picnic lunch, and the making of teas/coffees in the narrowboat kitchen was well under way as the boat left her mooring.

This has been a favourite summer trip that the Day Centre has organised for many years, and we're delighted to be able to take every client that wishes to go this year.

There were smiles all round as the Ladybird set off for St. Ives, and we're sure that Thursday's trip will be just as popular. As one gentleman said: "I feel all excited; like I'm 10 years old again!"

A huge thank you to everyone who volunteers with the Ladybird Boat Trust.

My mother, Jean, attends the Over Day Centre on two days per week, sometimes three (if there are events, like craft/art sessions that she wants to attend as an extra). Mum first started attending the Day Centre as I was so worried that she was getting lonely and, as she was not able to drive anymore, was not having an active life. Right from the start the Centre has been marvellous for her.
