Volunteer at the Day Centre

We always welcome and value our volunteers, who provide support in a number of ways, including helping with food preparation, refreshments, and escorting clients on and off the Day Centre minibus as they travel to attend for the day. We are also always busy fundraising, so any voluntary help with our events is always very welcome. As with any voluntary position, there are no expectations of regular commitment, so please get in touch if you are interested in helping in any small way, to support this valued and well respected community provision. Hayley Smith, Centre Manager, would love to hear from you by phone on 01954 231807 or by email.

Below are two positions for which we are always needing new volunteers. (We are happy to provide any support and training necessary).

VOLUNTEER MINIBUS ESCORT (can be on an ad hoc basis)
Monday to Friday (AM 9.30-11.00 & PM 3.00-4.30)

Would you like to become an escort that travels with our clients on board one of our two minibuses, which bring older people to and from the day centre? Your role would be to ensure their well-being and help them on and off the transports safely.

There are two routes: Over with nearby villages (Swavesey, Bar Hill, Northstowe, Willingham, Longstanton) or Histon-Impington with nearby villages (Cottenham, Girton, Rampton). Both routes take approx 60–90 minutes.

You will receive all the training you need and will be supported by a staff member until you are happy to escort independently (with minibus driver support). You will also need to complete a DBS check.

If you would like to discuss the role, please contact Centre Manager Hayley Smith, 01954 231807 (office hours Mon-Fri 9.30-4.00).

If you would like to discuss the role, please contact Centre Manager Hayley Smith, 01954 231807 (office hours Mon-Fri 9.30-4.00).

The place is wonderful. I am sociable and like to go out. When I come to the Day Centre, I chat with people. We have the same interests. I like the musical entertainment, because I am in a choir and have always liked music. But I like everything we do with the staff. The staff are wonderful and very friendly. They always make me feel welcome. I like the garden.
