Over Day Centre |
The Over Day Centre was established in 1989 to provide care for the frail and elderly. Clients come not only from Over but also the surrounding villages. Registered Charity No. 800829 |
The aim of the Day Centre is to promote and maintain the quality of life for the frail and elderly through social contact, recreation and informative activities. It provides a focal resource through which appropriate medical and social services can be supplied thereby providing relief for carers. It provides a focus through which residents of all participating villages can take an active part in care in the community. Clients are referred by GP Surgeries, the Hospital or Social Services with whom we work closely.
The Day Centre is a charitable, independent organisation, The Over Day Centre Association, which is managed by an elected body of approximately eleven members whose backgrounds cover a wide range of skills ensuring a balanced approach in decision making. These members are the Trustees of the Day Centre and are responsible for ensuring its long term viability, whilst maintaining its aims. It is a self-funded organisation and although is in receipt of some grants etc. is continually looking for new ways to raise funds.
The Day Centre has been housed since 2000 in new premises which were purpose built for looking after the frail and elderly. Considerable time and energy was spent ensuring that the building catered for the needs of the operation of the Day Centre following nearly eleven years experience in the old premises.
